چکیده

Color confinement by the mechanism of Kugo and Ojima can treat confinement of any quantized color carrying fields including dynamical quarks. However, the non-perturbative condition for this confinement has been known to be satisfied only in the pure-gauge model (PGM), which is a topological model without physical degrees of freedom. Here we analyze the Yang-Mills theory by adding physical degrees of freedom as perturbation to PGM. We find that quarks and gluons are indeed confined in this perturbation theory. e-mail address: [email protected] Supported in part by Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research from Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (# 06640390). e-mail address: [email protected] JSPS Research Fellow. Quark Confinement due to Random Interactions

On the level of an effective quark theory, we define confinement by the absence of quark anti-quark thresholds in correlation functions. We then propose a confining Nambu-Jona-Lasinio-type model. Its four fermion interaction in the color channel is mediated by a random color matrix. We study the model's phase structure as well as its behavior under extreme conditions, i.e. high temperature and/...

Yang-Mills Theory as a Deformation of Topological Field Theory, Dimensional Reduction and Quark Confinement

We prove quark confinement in four-dimensional QCD based on the criterion of area law of Wilson loop. First, Yang-Mills theory with a non-Abelian gauge group G is reformulated as a deformation of a novel topological field theory. Next, a special class of topological field theories is defined by both BRST and anti-BRST exact action corresponding to the maximal abelian gauge leaving the maximal t...

Distribution of Instanton and Monopole Clustering

We study the relation between the instanton distribution and the monopole loop length in the SU(2) gauge theory with the abelian gauge fixing. We measure the monopole current from the multiinstanton ensemble on the 16 lattice using the maximally abelian gauge. When the instanton density is dilute, there appear only small monopole loops. On the other hand, in the dense case, there appears one ve...

Dynamics of effective gluon fields in hadrons in the method of field correlators

In the framework of the method of field correlators the mechanism of confinement is studied in terms of effective fields defined in a gauge invariant way using the Wilson loop. At small distances the gluodynamics in terms of effective fields in the leading order of perturbation theory is described by Maxwell equations, and in particular the color-Coulomb potential of one-gluon exchange is repro...

Implications of Analyticity to Mass Gap, Color Confinement and Infrared Fixed Point in Yang–Mills theory

Analyticity of gluon and Faddeev–Popov ghost propagators and their form factors on the complex momentum-squared plane is exploited to continue analytically the ultraviolet asymptotic form calculable by perturbation theory into the infrared non-perturbative solution. We require the non-perturbative multiplicative renormalizability to write down the renormalization group equation. These requireme...
